Grey Fox is a CIA squad that appears in Spec Ops: The Line. Its role intially was antagonistic before turning to supporting when Delta Squad are hostile towards the 33rd Battalion.
History[]
Not much known about the team history but CIA sent Grey Fox team in order to investigate any survivors in the Dubai wasteland. It is unknown exactly when they were sent in the 6 months period, but it is likely to be after the 33rd Civil War where the Exiles are defeated.
Grey Fox managed to investigate the status of Dubai under the 33rd management. They sent Daniels out of Dubai to report any findings and recieve further instructions. However, Grey Fox had ulterior motives where they destroy the water supply in order to kill the city from dehydration. All of this is in order to cover up Konrad's crimes in Dubai which would instigate a huge war in the Middle East with the US likely defeat. However, it is unknown whether the cover up plan was actually from the CIA or Riggs acting rogue. Considering that Daniels was captured before exiting Dubai and Gould objection to Riggs' plan, it may be the latter.
During the period before the game and Grey Fox entry, Daniels was captured and tortured to death, leaving his burnt corpse to trap any CIA agent coming to his rescue. Meanwhile, Grey Fox soon armed the angry civilians for them to fight against the 33rd martial rule, leading to another conflict in Dubai. The CIA soon establish their base of operations in the Nest.
There was a temporary truce between the 33rd and the Insurgents only to be broken by the time when Delta Squad respond to the transmission. The insurgents under Castavin orders attacked Alpha Patrol and captured its leader, Lt. McPherson in order to interrogate on the security in the Aquarium Colisseum. The interrogation is interrupted by Delta Squad, which cost Castavin life. The 33rd attack the Nest and capture around 30-40 civilians, but sustained huge casualties in the operation.

- Gray Fox was the codename used by the US Army Intelligence Support Activity at the beginning of the War in Afghanistan.
- Gray Fox is also the codename of Metal Gear series character Frank Jaeger.
