The M-99 Sniper is a sniper rifle that appears in Spec Ops: The Line.
Campaign[]
The M-99 Sniper appears only once in the campaign, in Chapter 13: Adams. It is used by a Zulu Squad sniper encountered early in the level, and can be taken from him after he has been killed.
Due to the fact that only one of this weapon exists, ammo can only be acquired from Ammo Crates or Executions. Loading screens also mention that it will kill every enemy in one hit (so long as the enemy is hit), Heavy Troopers are the exception, requiring multiple shots to kill or two head shots.
It can be toggled between an 8x scope and 16x scope.
Multiplayer[]
The M-99 Sniper is unlocked at level 41. Although it only is capable of a single shot before reloading, a single successful hit will kill any target regardless of damage reduction or resistance. The only exceptions to this rule are players under the effect of spawn protection or a Medic's Adrenaline Shot.
Trivia[]
- It is the only single shot sniper in the game. The RPG-7 is also single shot, but that is a rocket as opposed to a "shot".
- The M-99 Sniper is based on the real-world weapon Barrett M99. The name of the arms maker was likely excluded for copyright purposes.
- The M-99 Sniper has a 33rd Infantry insignia on the side of it, similar to the AA-12, FAMAS, SCAR-H, and Vector.
Bugs[]
- In the multiplayer lobby, if the character is holding an M-99 Sniper, it may have glitched textures and appear to be a very light beige rather than the dark gun metal it is supposed to be.
